Russian National Security Council Warns Trump
Russia has warned the United States against supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Russian news agency TASS quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying on Monday, “In fact, dealing with such heavy missiles requires the involvement of American specialists in one way or another.”
Following Peskov’s statements, a warning was issued by Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president and current deputy chairman of the Security Council, cautioning U.S. President Donald Trump against such a move.
Medvedev wrote on Telegram: “The delivery of these missiles could end badly for everyone, especially for Trump himself,” adding that when a Tomahawk missile approaches, it is impossible to know whether it is armed with nuclear capabilities.
Russia has repeatedly threatened to use its nuclear arsenal. Medvedev expressed hope that Trump’s threat remains empty.
Trump has not ruled out supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to the Middle East late Sunday, Trump mentioned that he wants to discuss the matter with Russia, asking whether they would prefer to see Tomahawk missiles flying in their direction.
The range of Tomahawk cruise missiles extends up to 2,500 kilometers, and they can technically be equipped with nuclear warheads.
