The National Office of Railways has launched an international tender valued at 440 million dirhams for the acquisition of new railway tracks as part of its strategy to modernize and enhance Morocco’s railway infrastructure.

The contract concerns 60 E1 (UIC60) type tracks, each 36 meters long, non-drilled, complying with the NF EN 13674-1 +A1 (June 2017) standard, and weighing approximately 60 kilograms per linear meter. These tracks are designed to ensure durability and safety, particularly in sections with heavy loads or high speeds.

These tracks will serve a range of major projects on the national network, including:
– The rail connection to the Port of Nador West Med,
– The first phase of the rapid regional network in Tangier,
– Doubling the line between Dalia and Mghogha,
– Enhancing the capacity of the line connecting Sidi Aichou and Fez,
– Alongside other projects such as Beni Ansar–Selouan and the establishment of stations in Mezinda and Safi.

The successful bidder will be responsible for manufacturing the tracks to the specified standards, as well as shipping them to the Port of Casablanca, with the National Office of Railways handling their distribution to various sites.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive program to strengthen and modernize the Moroccan railway network, which includes the extension of the high-speed train (LGV), the development of regional rapid lines, enhancing freight transport, and updating traditional lines.
