“Sandero” Tops Car Sales in Spain for 2025

Dacia’s Sandero, with a significant portion of its models manufactured at Renault facilities in Morocco, has established itself as the best-selling car in the Spanish market for 2025. It surpassed all its competitors by a comfortable margin, reflecting the strength of the Moroccan automotive industry.

According to official data from the Spanish Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Sandero sales reached 28,765 units by the end of September, leading the sales list ahead of the MG ZS, Renault Clio, Seat Ibiza, and Toyota Corolla.

Experts in the sector attribute this success to the car’s competitive price, coupled with its ECO classification from the Spanish Directorate General of Traffic. This classification provides environmental and economic benefits, making it one of the most appealing cars for Spanish consumers seeking practicality and low costs.

This success, according to observers, is a testament to Moroccan industrial efforts. The Sandero is produced in two main plants owned by Renault in the kingdom: the first in Tangier, which opened in 2012 and employs over six thousand workers, and the second in Casablanca (Somaca), established in 1959. These facilities play a crucial role in Renault’s strategy, which focuses on low-cost manufacturing aimed at export to Europe.

The Sandero is noted for its practical design and ability to balance quality with an appropriate price, a philosophy that Dacia has maintained since joining the Renault Group in 1999. With new car prices in the Spanish market rising by nearly 40% over the past five years, the Sandero remains an enticing economic option, with a starting price of €13,940 for the base model, rising to around €18,000 for the fully equipped version.

The car features five doors, a comfortable interior, and a luggage capacity of 328 liters, along with modern amenities such as touch screens, parking assistance systems, and effective air conditioning, making it a successful example of “European quality made by Moroccan hands.”
