The Ministry of Interior has referred the case for the dismissal of the president of the regional council and the municipal council of Sidi Kacem to the administrative court, in connection with the issue of transforming a social complex funded by the National Initiative for Human Development into a private hotel.

The former governor of Sidi Kacem, Habib Nadhir, filed the case against Benaissa Benzrwali, president of the regional council from the Authenticity and Modernity Party, and Abdel-Ilah Ouissa, president of the municipal council from the National Rally of Independents Party, seeking their removal.

The first session to address the request has been set for November 7, also including the deputy mayor responsible for professional licenses and the deputy council member in charge of urban planning, amid widespread anticipation regarding the court’s decision.

The Sidi Kacem provincial authorities notified the two presidents on Thursday, October 23, of their suspension from their duties, assigning the first two deputies to temporarily manage the affairs of the councils until the ruling is issued.

This decision comes just days before the handover ceremony between the former governor Habib Nadhir, who was relieved of his duties in connection to the same case, and his successor Abdel Aziz Zarwali from the Ministry of Equipment, a move local sources have linked to administrative reform.

The file, known as the “social complex case,” involves several elected officials and local authorities before the investigating judge responsible for financial crimes at the appeals court in Rabat, who decided to place them under judicial supervision, revoke their passports, and seize their assets.
