Governor of Souss-Massa Region Visits Inzegan to Assess the Aftermath of Violent Events
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Saeed Amzazi, the Governor of Souss-Massa, arrived in the city of Inzegan, accompanied by the regional police chief, to assess the situation on the ground following the violent events that occurred on Tuesday evening amid protests by the “Generation Z” group.
This urgent visit comes as the regional authorities closely monitor the tensions and unrest in the city, where some protests escalated into riots involving vandalism of vehicles, arson, and attempts to storm a shopping complex, in addition to setting fire to a pharmacy and a café, and damaging other facilities.
Local sources confirmed that the governor held meetings with security officials to closely follow the situation and coordinate efforts to reinforce security measures aimed at restoring calm to the city’s streets.
So far, security interventions have resulted in the arrest of several individuals involved in these acts of vandalism, while efforts continue to ensure stability and reassure residents following an extraordinary night in Inzegan.
