Signing of Partnership Agreement Between Royal Air Maroc and China Eastern Airlines

Royal Air Maroc and China Eastern Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on Saturday, October 18, 2025, marking the beginning of a new phase of strategic cooperation between the two companies.

The signing ceremony took place in Shanghai, attended by the heads of both companies, Mr. Wang Qicheng and Mr. Hamid Adoo, alongside senior officials from both sides.

This partnership aims to enhance air connectivity between China and Africa, in line with the growing economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges between the two countries. The agreement includes expanding the flight network via the main hubs of both airlines, as well as signing a “Special Prorate” agreement to enhance integration between their air transport networks.

This collaboration will enable passengers to benefit from a broader network of destinations and an improved travel experience between the two sides. The companies also plan to broaden their cooperation to include other areas in the aviation sector, aiming to deliver high-quality services and enhance operational and commercial integration.

Mr. Wang Qicheng, President of China Eastern Airlines, stated: “The long-standing friendship and close cooperation between China and Morocco have laid a solid foundation for this partnership. Thanks to the strategic role of the Shanghai hub and the strong presence of Royal Air Maroc in Africa, we will enhance our network and expand strategic cooperation in air transport between China and Africa.”

On his part, Mr. Hamid Adoo, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, said: “This partnership falls within Morocco’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with China, in line with the High Directions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. It aims to build a multidimensional model of South-South cooperation and expand economic, cultural, tourism, and humanitarian bridges between the two countries.”

It is noteworthy that Royal Air Maroc resumed its direct flights between Casablanca and Beijing in January 2025 with three weekly flights, while Shanghai Airlines, a branch of China Eastern Airlines, launched a route between Shanghai and Casablanca via Marseille with three weekly flights. In September 2025, a fourth direct flight was added, with plans to expand direct flights to ensure a smoother travel experience and enhance exchanges between China and Morocco, as well as across all African countries.
