A partnership worth $11.7 million between UNICEF and the Korean International Cooperation Agency to enhance maternal and child health in rural Moroccan villages

The UNICEF office in Morocco and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have signed a strategic partnership agreement valued at $11.7 million for the period from 2025 to 2029. The aim is to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and children in the most vulnerable rural areas, with a particular focus on the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.

The program emphasizes the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, a critical phase in their development, and aims to reduce preventable mortality and morbidity among mothers, newborns, and children. The project will be implemented in close partnership with regional authorities and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

This initiative is part of Morocco’s efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and reflects South Korea’s commitment to supporting the national health system and promoting effective healthcare models for mothers and children in rural settings.
