Morocco has slipped slightly to twelfth place in the FIFA monthly ranking, released today, after holding the eleventh position last month.
Despite this minor setback, the Atlas Lions continue to dominate the top spot among African and Arab teams, outpacing their closest rivals, Senegal, thus confirming Morocco’s continued presence among the world’s elite football teams.
This decline comes even after Morocco won its last matches, both friendly against Bahrain (1-0) and officially against Congo Brazzaville by the same scoreline in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The drop in ranking is attributed to FIFA’s point calculation criteria, which consider the opponent’s strength, match type, and the points accumulated in previous encounters, affecting Morocco’s overall tally.
With this ranking, Morocco continues to represent Arab and African football prominently on the global stage, maintaining its position among the top 15 teams in the world since the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
