Morocco Launches National Partnership to Enhance Industrial Engineering and Technological Innovation
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Council for Engineering and Development, and Moroccan industrial technical centers have signed a framework agreement aimed at building a national industrial engineering system capable of innovation, competition, and sustainability.
The agreement emphasizes the enhancement of technical exchanges and supports strategic development between the industrial technical centers, which represent technological platforms for the industrial sectors, and the Council for Engineering and Development as a reference actor in the field.
The objectives of the agreement are to stimulate innovation, technological development, and industrial engineering, support digital transformation, reduce the carbon footprint of industry, promote the circular economy, and elevate skills through specialized technical training.
In this context, Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour stated that Morocco has taken a decisive step towards technological sovereignty by engaging in a new era of industrial engineering, calling for the replication of Morocco’s successes in developing industrial infrastructure, enabled by the pivotal role of the Council for Engineering and Development.
Mezzour noted that enhancing national industrial engineering requires technological independence and support for innovation to ensure the Kingdom’s competitiveness on the international stage.
For his part, the Director General of the Council for Engineering and Development, Ahmed Chalabi, highlighted that the partnership represents an extension of the council’s legacy since its establishment in 1982 and supports technological independence in the fields of construction and public works, noting that the council has entered a new phase characterized by addressing the challenges of the manufacturing industry.
Meanwhile, the President of the Network of Moroccan Industrial Technical Centers, Abdelaziz Alazraq, confirmed that the partnership represents an opportunity to capitalize on expertise and strengthen integration between the centers and the council. He explained that these centers rely on qualified technical teams comprising around 350 engineers and technicians and benefit from investments exceeding 500 million dirhams, with additional funding in progress exceeding 250 million dirhams.
On the sidelines of signing the framework agreement, specific contracts were concluded between the Council for Engineering and Development and each technical center to define the technical and financial aspects of the services to be carried out. Additionally, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Technical Center for Plastics and Rubber, the Council for Engineering and Development, and Capgemini Engineering Maroc to train its teams in the design and development of automotive parts following the “build to print” methodology.
