Lana Cash Reinforces the Digital Payment Revolution with the Launch of Instant Transfer Service

Lana Cash, a subsidiary of CIH Bank, has taken a significant step in the development of digital financial services in Morocco by launching an instant transfer service through its “WE PAY” application and its expanding network of outlets. This initiative represents a crucial transformation in supporting financial inclusion and accelerating the digitization of transactions within the kingdom.

Lana Cash received accreditation from Bank Al-Maghrib in 2019 and has established a network of agencies and points of sale for executing money transfers, bill payments, and balance top-ups, either in cash or through digital means. The inclusion of instant transfer in its new services aims to meet the growing demands of the Moroccan market in this domain.

Digital payments are experiencing notable growth in Morocco, with the number of instant transfers rising from 6 million to 16 million between 2023 and 2024, and their value increasing from 21 billion to 62 billion dirhams. This reflects a growing preference for digital means, particularly among youth and merchants.

Lana Cash sees this initiative as a lever to enhance financial inclusion, allowing users to send and receive money quickly and easily via mobile phones or through agencies, thereby facilitating access to financial services for underbanked groups and reducing reliance on cash, which remains prevalent despite the digital expansion.

The new service offers users the ability to make near-instant transfers without waiting for traditional banking transaction times. It also provides an effective tool for businesses and merchants to improve liquidity management and strengthen customer relationships.

Despite this dynamic growth, there are still existing challenges, such as expanding usage, ensuring pricing transparency, enhancing transaction security, and achieving technical compatibility with other payment systems—crucial factors for building user trust and ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem.

By launching the instant transfer service, Lana Cash affirms its position as a leading player in modernizing the payment sector in Morocco, fully aligning with the digital transformation of the national economy towards a more inclusive, connected, and advanced model.
