Growth of Digital Economy and Outsourcing Services Exports by 3.5% in the First Half of 2025

Recent data released by the Exchange Office, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, reveals a positive trajectory for the digital economy and outsourcing services sector in Morocco during the first half of 2025, confirming the sector’s ongoing dynamism and increasing role in bolstering the national economy.

Preliminary figures indicate that the sector’s export revenues reached 13.4 billion dirhams by the end of June 2025, marking a 3.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when revenues were 12.9 billion dirhams. This development enhances the upward trajectory of the sector following a phase of stability in 2024.

In 2024, the total exports of the digital economy and outsourcing services amounted to 26.2 billion dirhams, reflecting a slight increase of 0.2% compared to 2023 (26.17 billion dirhams). The Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) sector continued to lead with a 40.3% share of total exports, equating to 10.6 billion dirhams, followed by Customer Relationship Management (CRM), which includes call centers, at 37.4% (9.8 billion dirhams). Engineering Services Outsourcing (ESO) accounted for 13.2%, while Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) held an 8.9% share, with Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) at just 0.2%.

In the first half of 2025, the IT sector (ITO) maintained its leadership with revenues of 5.25 billion dirhams, followed by the CRM sector with 4.19 billion dirhams. The engineering services outsourcing sector (ESO) showed remarkable growth, with revenues soaring to 2.58 billion dirhams in just six months, equivalent to approximately 75% of its total revenues for 2024.

These results align with Morocco’s efforts to enhance its position as a regional digital hub through a project to modernize metrics for measuring and evaluating digital economy exports, launched by the Exchange Office in partnership with the relevant ministry, as part of the implementation of the “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy aimed at developing digital exports, promoting innovation, and creating new high-value-added job opportunities.

These indicators highlight the resilience of the digital economy and outsourcing services sector and its capacity to sustain a positive growth trajectory supported by a clear strategic vision, positioning it as one of the engines of economic development in the Kingdom over the next decade.
