From Training to Achievement: Morocco Establishes Itself Globally, According to AS Newspaper

The Spanish newspaper AS praised the football renaissance taking place in Morocco in a comprehensive report published today, considering that the kingdom has become a global model for building a comprehensive sports project based on a clear strategic vision led by King Mohammed VI.

The publication emphasized that the consecutive achievements of national teams, from the youth team winning the World Cup in Chile to the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, as well as the historic reach to the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, were not mere coincidences. They resulted from long-term institutional work focused on training, planning, and investment in young talent.

The report highlighted the pivotal role of the Mohammed VI Academy of Football, founded in 2010, claiming it to be the “major turning point” in the development of the game in Morocco. The academy has produced a new generation of talented players in an environment that combines excellent sports training with modern academic education, plus infrastructure comparable to the leading global academies.

AS also recognized the open policy of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in attracting talents from the Moroccan diaspora, showcasing the contributions of prominent stars such as Achraf Hakimi, Yassine Bounou, Sofyan Amrabat, and Hakim Ziyech in elevating the profile of Moroccan football globally.

The Spanish newspaper concluded its report by affirming that Morocco has successfully transformed its passion for football into a national project based on modernity, training, and openness, positioning it as one of the emerging powers in world football just months ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
