Claude Le Roy: The Moroccan National Team is Close to Becoming the First African Country to Win the World Cup

The experienced French coach Claude Le Roy praised the significant strides Morocco has made in football, asserting that the kingdom has now become a continental model of organization and training, with the potential to become the first African nation to reach the World Cup podium in the future.

In an exclusive interview with the French channel L’Équipe, Le Roy, one of the leading experts in African football, pointed out that Morocco has been considered the most organized country on the African continent for nearly twenty years, thanks to what he described as a visionary approach that has led to astonishing developments in youth player training and women’s football as well.

Le Roy noted that the National Football Center in Rabat serves as a model for modern training, explaining that numerous African teams now choose Morocco as a destination to prepare for their official and friendly matches due to its infrastructure that meets global standards.

The French coach added that Moroccan teams at younger age levels consistently face global football academies, which instills a strong competitive character in Moroccan players from an early age. He highlighted that the Moroccan football project has made an increasing number of dual-nationality players prefer to wear the “Atlas Lions” jersey.

In closing, Le Roy conveyed a striking message, stating: “I see the Moroccan national team as a genuine project for carrying the African flag at the World Cup. They could be the first to make history and lift the World Cup, as what is being built today in Morocco goes beyond the continent’s borders.”
