A police officer fired a shot to apprehend a dangerous criminal in Salé following an attack on security personnel.
In ongoing security efforts to combat crime and protect citizens, a police officer from the anti-gang unit in Salé was compelled to use his service weapon during an operation to arrest a 22-year-old man with a criminal record for violent offenses on Thursday morning, October 9.
According to available information, the suspect was the subject of a national search warrant for involvement in cases of serious assault using a knife and causing material damage to others’ property. During the attempt to arrest him, he violently resisted and attacked police officers with a sharp weapon, prompting one officer to shoot him, hitting him in the shoulder.
This intervention allowed the police to bring the individual under control and confiscate the weapon used. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for necessary treatment and is being held under medical supervision pending a judicial investigation led by the competent public prosecutor to uncover all the criminal activities attributed to him.
