Yacoub El Mansour Union Enters the Elite Division with Ambitious Aspirations and the Aim to Make History in Its First Appearance

The Yacoub El Mansour Union team is preparing for its inaugural season in the Botola Pro “Inwi,” the first division (2025-2026), with grand ambitions to establish itself among the elite and leave a distinguished mark in the league.

Founded in 1989, the team achieved a historic milestone by earning promotion to the first division after finishing the previous season in impressive fashion, securing second place in the second division with 51 points, just behind the leaders Marrakech’s Kawkab, who clinched the top spot with 53 points.

Yacoub El Mansour Union’s strong performances last season culminated in the realization of a long-awaited dream, marking a new chapter in the club’s history, representing the Yacoub El Mansour neighborhood, one of the largest and most historic popular areas in the capital, Rabat.

With this promotion, Yacoub El Mansour Union becomes the fourth representative of the capital in the elite division, alongside FAR Rabat, Olympic Club de Khouribga, and Union Touarga. This enhances the football presence of Rabat, solidifying it as a central hub in the Moroccan football landscape.

Undoubtedly, the team’s participation at this high level will energize its loyal supporters, who have consistently backed it both on and off the pitch, especially with the significant challenges ahead in its first season among the elite.

The team exemplifies the aspirations of popular neighborhoods, which have long produced shining football talents, and its presence is expected to add a human and popular dimension to the competition, fostering a culture of belonging and fan support.

The club is also placing substantial emphasis on youth development, as part of a strategy to prepare young players capable of donning the first team’s jersey and contributing to the national teams in the future.

It is worth noting that the team previously claimed the third division title during the 2003-2004 season, allowing it to ascend to the second division for the first time before experiencing a decline that returned it to amateur levels until its recent return to the spotlight.

Yacoub El Mansour Union’s inaugural test in the first division will be a tough one, facing FAR Rabat in the opening match, followed by a clash with Wydad Athletic Club in the second round, before traveling to meet Renaissance Berkane in the third round.

The National Professional Football League has announced that the start of the professional league for both the first and second divisions for the 2025-2026 sports season has been postponed to September 12, instead of the previously scheduled date of August 22.
