Washington Reaffirms Its Steadfast Support for the Autonomy Initiative and Enhancing Investment Cooperation with Morocco
In the context of strengthening strategic relations between the United States and Morocco, Moises Pulaws, an advisor to former President Donald Trump, reiterated his country’s firm stance on the Moroccan Sahara issue during his meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. Pulaws emphasized Washington’s full support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern territories and confirmed that the “autonomy plan” proposed by the Kingdom represents the only fair and sustainable solution to the conflict.
On his platform X, Pulaws noted that this meeting was an important occasion to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in several areas, including American investments across various regions of Morocco, including the southern territories. He pointed out that “the United States seeks to expedite the political process to enhance regional stability and achieve mutual interests.”
Pulaws also added that cooperation between the United States and Morocco encompasses many economic areas, highlighting that “the stable political environment and open investment climate in Morocco form an ideal foundation to support bilateral relations between the two countries.”
He concluded his tweet by asserting that the partnership between the United States and Morocco would remain strong and ongoing, reflecting Washington’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s efforts in achieving sustainable development and stability in the region.
This position reflects the continued support of the United States for the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco in 2007, which has been praised by successive American administrations as being “serious and realistic,” and in line with Security Council resolutions calling for a “practical and lasting political solution” based on the agreement of the concerned parties.
