The public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Kenitra has referred three individuals to judicial authorities, including former parliamentarian Yassine Radi, in the case of the “Drug Car,” which is suspected to have been fabricated to undermine Abdellah Khalouqi, the former president of the Sidi Slimane regional council.
The accused include Yassine Radi, Youssef Chamak, the mayor of Sidi Yahya El Gharb, and local councilor Abdel Latif Boumehdi. They face charges of placing a quantity of cocaine, weapons, and forged documents inside a vehicle with the intent to fabricate allegations against Khalouqi.
The prosecution followed extensive investigations led by the National Gendarmerie, which determined to pursue charges against them while allowing their temporary release under judicial supervision. The accused are scheduled for detailed questioning on October 14.
Observers believe the case reflects intense political rivalry between Abdellah Khalouqi and his adversary Idris Radi, who had previously accused the latter and his son Yassine of attempts to politically undermine Khalouqi, particularly after Khalouqi assumed the role of regional coordinator for the Constitutional Union party in 2021, a position previously held by Idris Radi.
