Moroccan Ministry of Interior Strengthens Regulatory Framework for Taxi Services

The Moroccan Ministry of Interior has directed local authorities to enhance the regulatory framework for the taxi sector, in a move aimed at improving public service and meeting citizens’ expectations.

The memorandum emphasized the pivotal role that taxis play in the mobility of citizens, especially in areas lacking other means of transportation. It underscored the importance of continuing efforts to modernize the sector and ensure quality services.

The guidelines included the generalization of operating licenses and professional cards, subjecting vehicles to technical inspections, making fare displays mandatory, and using meters in specified cases. It also encouraged driver training and the adoption of digital booking systems.

These measures are part of public policies aimed at aligning transportation services with social and technological transformations.
