Manufacturing Production Increases in Morocco
The industrial production index, excluding oil refining, saw a rise of 7% during the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The High Commission for Planning, in a news memo regarding industrial, energy, and mining production indices, stated that this development is mainly attributed to the increase in production in several sectors: chemical industry by 9.3%, production of other non-metallic products by 10.8%, food industries by 9%, tobacco manufacturing by 19.1%, automotive industry by 5.6%, electrical appliances manufacturing by 16.3%, and mining by 17.2%.
Conversely, production witnessed a decline in the clothing industry by 11.6%, production of other transportation means by 14.5%, leather and footwear manufacturing by 9.1%, and production of rubber and plastic products by 3.2%.
In terms of the extraction industries index, it rose by 16.8%, due to increases recorded in “other extractive industries” by 17.4% and in ferrous metals by 0.1%.
The electricity production index also recorded an increase of 9.4%.
