The General Directorate of National Security categorically denied today, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the claims circulated on social media regarding an image purporting to show a police car being set on fire during a protest in Casablanca.
In a statement, the directorate confirmed that investigations revealed the circulated image was from a previous incident that occurred on September 12 in Laayoune, where a fire broke out in a police vehicle inside a mechanical workshop while it was being repaired.
The same source added that the earlier investigations resulted in the detention of a 17-year-old minor suspected of deliberately setting fire to the vehicle. He was held under police supervision before being brought to justice after completing the investigation procedures under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor.
The General Directorate of National Security emphasized that the news circulating regarding the incident in Casablanca is unfounded, adding that investigations are still ongoing to identify the backgrounds and motives of those spreading these false reports.
