An security expert clarified that the intervention of public forces to prevent gatherings promoted through anonymous calls on social media over the past weekend was conducted within a balanced approach that maintains public order while ensuring the safety of both protesters and security personnel.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, the expert noted that local authorities issued decisions to ban these unauthorized gatherings, prompting the mobilization of uniformed and plainclothes security units, clearly identifiable by their visual identity, but without the usual intervention tools like batons, tear gas, or water cannons, indicating the preventive nature of the intervention.

The expert emphasized that the public forces focused during the hours of the announced calls on ensuring freedom of movement and traffic in the streets before issuing three legal warnings via loudspeakers to disperse the gatherings. He added that the majority complied with these directives, while those who refused were peacefully removed without the use of force.

Regarding the limited cases of individuals who did not comply, the expert highlighted that the concerned parties were detained and subjected to identity verification procedures under the supervision of competent public prosecutors, with most being released immediately. However, some detainees in Rabat and Casablanca were placed in police custody by order of the public prosecutor after actions that fall under punishable offenses were observed.

He pointed out that all judicial investigations were conducted in accordance with legal guarantees, stressing that the interventions recorded no injuries among the protesters or public forces and did not result in material damages to public or private property.

The expert concluded by asserting that public authorities will not tolerate anonymous virtual calls aimed at disrupting public order, emphasizing that respect for legal procedures regarding gatherings remains a fundamental condition for exercising the right to protest.
