The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, participated today, Thursday, in New York, in a meeting convened by FIFA to discuss the preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

The meeting, called at the request of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, also brought together Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel.

In a press statement following the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Akhannouch explained that the meeting allowed the three countries to assess the progress of their preparations, emphasizing that Morocco showcased its infrastructure, major projects, and comprehensive reforms initiated under King Mohammed VI.

The establishment of the “Morocco 2030 Foundation,” which will serve as a link between the government and the World Cup organizing programs, was also discussed.

Akhannouch noted that the projects related to the World Cup would leave a lasting positive impact beyond the tournament’s duration.
