Launch of a Major Maintenance Project to End Public Lighting Crisis in Kenitra

Recently, the city of Kenitra faced a crisis regarding public lighting, with several streets and alleys plunged into darkness. This situation prompted local authorities to initiate a comprehensive maintenance program for the public lighting network, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and services for residents. The program was announced on September 12, 2025, following a series of field assessments, visits, and preliminary studies, in coordination with the local council and relevant authorities.

Inspections revealed that the lighting network consists of 45,000 light points spread over 500 kilometers, divided into 11 sectors. The provincial governor emphasized during the meeting that the project aims to ensure the continuity of public lighting and provide a safer environment for citizens, particularly during nighttime.

The maintenance plan focuses on prioritizing work on major streets, mobilizing four teams to work in shifts around the clock, including on holidays, and deploying engineers, technicians, and specialized workers, along with cranes and trucks equipped with the necessary tools. The plan also incorporates a dual strategy that combines proactive intervention for organization and routine follow-ups, alongside emergency interventions when needed.

Authorities announced that the work will commence on Saturday, September 13, 2025, confirming that the project will contribute to improving the quality of public lighting and providing more efficient urban services to citizens.
