Education: Saad Barada Inaugurates Schools in Rachidia

On September 9, 2025, to enhance educational offerings and combat overcrowding and dropouts, Saad Barada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, visited the Rachidia region to review the status of new educational institutions and inaugurate two high schools.

The minister first opened Ibn Al-Haytham Secondary School, which accommodates 265 students and has 27 teachers. It includes 9 classrooms, 6 science laboratories, a multimedia hall, a library, administrative facilities, sports fields, and staff housing. The construction took 16 months, during which the minister ensured that preparations were in place for the 2025-2026 school year.

Following that, he visited Al-Fath Secondary School in Ghmima, which can host 519 students and is managed by 19 educational staff members to enhance the educational supply in the area.

The visit also included stops at the Ouled Haj Secondary School and Hamo Suel School, which are part of the “Leading Schools” program. Moulay Abdel-Latif Asfar, the director of the Regional Academy for Education and Training of Drâa-Tafilalet, provided explanations regarding educational innovations and their implementation at the regional and local levels.

Said Oufto, the regional director for Rachidia, noted that the new educational offerings are helping to address issues of overcrowding and dropouts, particularly among girls, mentioning that 104,504 students are registered in the region’s institutions for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Currently, the region has 90 primary schools and 14 secondary institutions classified as “Leading Schools,” serving about 33,075 primary students and 12,003 junior secondary students.
