Akhannouch Presides Over Ministerial Committee Meeting to Evaluate the Social Protection Reform

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Rabat, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Committee leading the reform of the social protection system. The meeting was dedicated to evaluating the outcomes of the programs included in this strategic initiative and to monitoring the progress of registration in the National Population Register and the Unified Social Register. It also addressed the “AMO-Tadarus” system and the Direct Social Support Program.

In his remarks, Akhannouch emphasized that the government is committed to implementing this initiative according to the royal agenda, with a comprehensive approach that ensures social justice and sustainability, highlighting ongoing efforts to establish a fair national social policy.

The committee reported that the number of registered individuals in the National Population Register has reached 22.5 million, while the Unified Social Register includes 5.3 million families. Additionally, the number of beneficiaries from health coverage systems rose from 8.6 million to 24.3 million between 2021 and 2024.

Regarding the “AMO-Tadarus” system, 4 million families, nearly 11 million individuals, have benefited, with the number of files submitted daily to the fund exceeding 102,000 in July 2025, compared to 93,000 files a year prior. The “AMO-TNS” system, aimed at professionals and freelancers, enabled 4.28 million individuals to access health coverage.

As for the Direct Social Support Program, by August 2025, approximately 4 million families, encompassing 5.5 million children and 1.3 million elderly individuals, were benefiting. Since its launch in December 2023, 40.5 billion dirhams have been disbursed, with 60% allocated to rural families.

The committee also noted the impact of the additional exceptional support directed towards education, with over 1.8 million families receiving assistance for educational expenses, benefiting 3.2 million students during the current school year.
