Traditional Industry Exports Reach 737 Million Dirhams
The State Secretary responsible for traditional industry and social solidarity has reported that exports of traditional industry products reached 737 million dirhams by the end of July, marking a 14% increase year-on-year. The products performed notably well in July, with a 34% rise compared to the same period last year.
Ceramics and stone products contributed 33% to the total export turnover, reflecting a 7% increase, while carpets maintained their position as the second most exported products with an 18% share, alongside traditional clothing, whose exports doubled compared to the same period in 2024. Plant-based products and miscellaneous goods each shared the third position with an 8% share.
The Turkish market saw exceptional growth, with exports to Turkey increasing 53-fold from January to July 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, raising its share from 0.2% to 7% of total exports. The United States solidified its position as the top destination for these products, accounting for half of total exports, a 32% increase, while the European market declined to 30%.
France’s market share fell by five points to settle at 11%, due to a 26% decrease in exports compared to last year. In terms of exporters, Marrakech topped the list of exporting cities with a 42% share and a 13% growth rate, followed by Casablanca with a 32% share. Fes recorded a significant growth rate of 47%, raising its share to 16%, while Tangier ranked fourth with a 7% share.
