The Minister of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Barada, announced that the government will provide an annual grant of 5,000 dirhams to teachers working in rural, mountainous, and remote areas by the end of this year. This initiative aims to acknowledge their efforts in ensuring the continuity of education under challenging conditions.

During his response to a question from Parliament member Khalid Al-Sati, the minister clarified that this decision is part of the outcomes of the social dialogue agreement signed by the ministry with the most representative educational unions in December 2023. The goal is to offer an additional annual compensation alongside regular salaries.

Barada confirmed that the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Advancement of Social Work in Education and Training has launched a field study through a specialized office to accurately identify remote areas and the number of beneficiaries, in preparation for establishing the legal framework for disbursing the grant.

The official emphasized the crucial role of teachers in vulnerable environments, noting that they cover approximately 84% of preschool education nationwide. The grant will be calculated annually once beneficiaries are accurately determined, with a focus on educational staff working in areas with specific geographical and social characteristics.
