Airstrikes Kill Over 35 Militants in Northeast Nigeria
The Nigerian Air Force has announced the deaths of more than 35 extremist fighters in airstrikes targeting jihadist groups in the northeast of the country, near the Cameroon border.
Military sources clarified that the strikes, conducted early Saturday, hit four designated congregation areas and resulted in the destruction of logistical routes used by militants to support their movements across border regions.
According to the army, this operation was a response to an attempted attack on ground forces in the Komshi area, where the air force intervened to provide direct support on the ground and thwart the assault.
For years, northern Nigeria’s states have been plagued by recurring attacks carried out by extremist groups, notably Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa, which have claimed dozens of lives and led to repeated kidnappings in recent months.
