More than 2.7 million Moroccans from the diaspora have returned to the homeland since the launch of Operation Marhaba 2025.
As of August 4, Morocco has recorded the entry of 2,789,197 individuals from the Moroccan community living abroad, marking an increase of 10.37% compared to the same period in 2024, according to Omar Moussa Abdullah, project manager and supervisor of the Marhaba operation at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
In a broadcast of the “Crossing” program on Tangier Mediterranean Radio, the spokesperson confirmed that the number of vehicles entering the national territory has reached 838,360, an increase of 3.74%. He emphasized that these figures reflect a rise in the number of Moroccans from abroad visiting the country this summer, countering rumors about their reluctance to visit their homeland.
The Tangier Mediterranean port welcomed a total of 555,753 passengers and 175,808 vehicles, accounting for 35.87% of total arrivals via ports and land crossings. Meanwhile, Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca received 320,395 travelers from the diaspora, leading air crossings with a share of 25%.
Teams from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, deployed across various crossing points and rest areas, provided 45,465 social, medical, and administrative services, including 2,858 medical services involving emergency transport for approximately 50 cases to hospitals, as well as assisting over 800 travelers whose vehicles broke down or faced travel difficulties.
The foundation, in collaboration with its partners and stakeholders involved in Operation Marhaba, has prepared for the departure phase of Moroccans from abroad, mobilizing human and logistical resources to ensure a smooth process in terms of organization and support.
Jaafar Amiar, director of the Tangier Mediterranean port for passengers, asserted that the port serves as the primary transit point for the Moroccan community returning to the homeland, noting a 6% increase in the number of travelers and 4% in the number of vehicles compared to last year.
Port authorities, in cooperation with various stakeholders, have implemented a series of measures to facilitate the crossing process by improving traffic flow and reducing processing time through the mobilization of national security, customs, and local authorities. Additionally, a requirement was established for travelers to have a ticket with a specific date and time for accessing the port from August 1 to 31, in order to organize the flow and ensure smooth boarding in consideration of ship capacity.
The port director urged members of the Moroccan community to confirm their travel schedules before arriving at the port using electronic applications or contact centers of shipping companies. He also advised them to avoid peak times, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, and the last week of August, to ensure a comfortable and safe journey.
