The quantities of seafood products landed at the port of Safi for the first seven months of 2025 showed an increase of 33 percent in weight and 32 percent in value, according to the National Fisheries Office.
The Office, in its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, stated that the quantities landed at this port reached 29,264 tons by the end of July, compared to 22,029 tons during the same period in 2024. The market value of these catches amounted to 221.21 million dirhams, up from 167.36 million dirhams the previous year.
By species, the report indicated that the quantities of pelagic fish landed at the port of Safi increased by 35 percent during the mentioned period, totaling 27,728 tons (100.8 million dirhams), compared to 20,554 tons (67.52 million dirhams, an increase of 49 percent) by the end of July 2024.
On the other hand, the quantities of white fish saw a decline of 4 percent, reaching 574 tons valued at 32.65 million dirhams (+3 percent), down from 600 tons (31.6 million dirhams) the previous year.
Regarding mollusks, caught quantities increased by 16 percent to 945 tons, generating revenues of 85.9 million dirhams (+35 percent), up from 813 tons and 63.5 million dirhams during the same period in 2024.
Conversely, crustacean landings plummeted by 74 percent to 16 tons, with revenues of 1.77 million dirhams, down from 63 tons and 4.57 million dirhams the previous year.
At the national level, the value of the quantities landed from coastal and artisanal fishing reached 6.14 billion dirhams by the end of July 2025, reflecting a 3 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
In terms of weight, these landings totaled 523,765 tons, showing a 16 percent decrease compared to the end of July 2024.
