Young People Without Family Support Shine at the SOS Children’s Villages Hackathon in Morocco

The activities of the “SOS Children’s Villages Morocco Hackathon” concluded on July 16 at the SOS village in Dar Bouazza, awarding three innovative projects created by youth lacking family support, reflecting their ambition to build an independent professional future.

This event followed an intensive 60-hour training focused on developing entrepreneurial skills and personal capacities, featuring the participation of 20 young men and women who presented their projects to a judging panel composed of experts, professionals, and representatives from partner organizations.

The three projects piqued the judges’ interest due to their social and practical significance, with results as follows:

  1. First Prize (50,000 dirhams): Awarded to Ateq Bouhalal (19 years old) for his project “Basma Event”, an artistic and cultural platform aimed at showcasing young talents by organizing events that highlight their creativity.

  2. Second Prize (30,000 dirhams): Awarded to Aya Hassani (21 years old) for her project “Eco-connect”, an innovative platform that promotes eco-tourism by highlighting lesser-known natural and cultural sites in Morocco.

  3. Third Prize (20,000 dirhams): Awarded to Aziz Mohamed (22 years old) for his project “Asalat Alkhair”, which aims to rear chickens in a natural and environmentally friendly way, supporting sustainable production and empowering small farmers.

Samia El Mousti, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Morocco, confirmed that “youth once again prove that with determination and the right support, anyone can carve their path to success.”

In addition to the prizes, all participants will benefit from ongoing support after the hackathon, including mentorship for their projects and meetings with business incubators, enhancing their opportunities for a successful entrepreneurial journey.
