Abuja – The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, expressed his appreciation for the growing dynamism of the economic partnership with Morocco, affirming that the Kingdom has become a key partner for Nigeria in several vital sectors.

During his meeting with the Moroccan Ambassador to Nigeria, Mouha Ouali Tagma, on Wednesday at the National Assembly, Akpabio emphasized his country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Morocco by encouraging investment flows and cooperation in strategic sectors.

Akpabio noted that Morocco has become a consensus economic partner among various stakeholders in Nigeria, citing the success of Moroccan investments in the fertilizer sector as a model of fruitful cooperation.

The Nigerian official also mentioned the establishment of a Nigeria-Morocco parliamentary friendship group, considering it a reflection of the political will to enhance bilateral relations.

In this context, the Senate President underscored the importance of cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, affirming Nigeria’s reliance on the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline project to export its natural gas reserves through Morocco.

For his part, the Moroccan ambassador highlighted the importance of continuing to develop relations between Rabat and Abuja, particularly in the economic and parliamentary realms, emphasizing the regional role of both countries in promoting African cooperation.

The meeting concluded with an official invitation from the Moroccan diplomat to the Nigerian Senate President to visit Morocco, aiming to enhance the multidimensional partnership between the two countries.
