The Ministry of the Interior is preparing to launch a wide-ranging transfer movement among officials across all regions, provinces, and districts of the kingdom.

This transfer movement coincides with preparations for the 2026 electoral deadlines, primarily the legislative elections. It carries particular significance due to several vacant positions resulting from the retirement of certain officials or their dismissal for various reasons, including health and disciplinary issues.

The movement is expected to involve a considerable number of “district governors, regional heads, and circle leaders,” and will emphasize the principle of accountability based on reports that highlighted various mismanagement issues in several areas.

Some stakeholders believe that this transfer will be unique, as the Ministry of the Interior aims to adopt a proximity policy by appointing officials from the communities they will serve. This approach is intended to facilitate communication with residents and improve the quality of public services.

The Ministry is currently finalizing the lists for appointments and transfers, with an announcement anticipated in September, right at the conclusion of the summer holiday.
