The government discusses the 2025 budget and reform decrees in health and cinema

The government council will hold its weekly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch. The meeting will focus on a progress report from the Minister of Economy and Finance regarding the implementation of the 2025 budget law, along with preparations for the 2026 budget law and budget programming for the period from 2026 to 2028.

The agenda includes the study of five draft regulatory decrees, notably one concerning the competencies and organization of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as part of the restructuring of this sector to align with major reform initiatives.

The agenda also covers four draft decrees related to the regulation of the film sector, including the criteria for registering film contracts in the national registry, organizing film production activities, and the distribution, export, and import of films, as well as issuing visas and organizing the operation of cinemas. The council will also discuss a decree on granting the “Studio” cinema label and issuing a professional cinema card, specifying the types of activities related to the industry.

On the international front, the council will present an agreement between Morocco and Kazakhstan regarding the transfer of convicted individuals, signed in Rabat on December 12, 2024, along with a draft law approving this agreement in preparation for its referral to Parliament.

The council will conclude its meeting by approving several high-level appointments, in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution, after which the government will hold a special meeting to consider a number of proposed laws presented to it.
