The President of the Colombian Senate, Iván Cepeda, stated that the major projects launched by King Mohammed VI over the past two decades have transformed Morocco into a modern nation and a strategic partner.

Cepeda, who recently visited Morocco, explained in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency on the occasion of Throne Day that he witnessed firsthand the modernization of transport sectors, the development of ports, and the expansion of the railway network. He emphasized that this progress has enhanced the Kingdom’s ability to ensure connectivity with its regional and international surroundings.

In this context, he highlighted the significance of the Tanger Med Port, which he described as one of the most important infrastructures on the African continent, noting that it has become a leading international logistics center that consolidates Morocco’s position as a strategic hub in global supply chains.

Cepeda added that the Colombian Senate highly appreciates the various development projects initiated by Morocco, particularly in the areas of urban development, smart cities, tourism investments, and renewable energies, viewing these achievements as a representation of Morocco as a modern, innovative country actively engaged in achieving sustainable development goals.

According to the speaker, this transformation opens new horizons for bilateral cooperation between Rabat and Bogotá, underscoring the need for joint efforts to enhance relations between the two countries.

On a diplomatic level, the President of the Colombian Senate acknowledged Morocco’s role in promoting South-South cooperation, praising the Kingdom’s ability to build strategic alliances and develop multilateral cooperation, which contributes to fostering closer ties between peoples and enhancing both diplomatic and commercial links.

In the same vein, Cepeda reiterated the Colombian Senate’s support for the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco to resolve the Sahara conflict, considering it a genuine and reliable basis for finding a realistic and lasting political solution to this regional dispute.
