Post-Exit Meetings Spark Outrage Among Educational Unions and Mobilize Parliament

- in Society

Educational unions express strong rejection of the Ministry of National Education’s decision to hold training sessions after the official date for signing exit reports, considering this decision inconsistent with current regulatory provisions and reflecting “administrative improvisation” that undermines confidence within the educational system.

The five most representative unions, part of the educational sector coordination, sent a letter to Minister of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, Mohamed Barada, condemning what they described as “direct infringement on the rights of educational staff and their professional and familial stability.” They firmly rejected any linkage between training sessions and signing exit reports.

The unions argued that this measure threatens the progress made through sectoral dialogue and damages the trust between the ministry and social partners. They called for an immediate review of the decision and for active participation in implementing the agreements of December 10 and 26, 2023, as well as the outcomes of the technical committee meeting on January 9, 2025.

The protests have transcended the unions and echoed in Parliament, where parliamentary member Hassan Amribt from the Progress and Socialism group submitted a written question to the Minister of National Education, inquiring about the reasons for the confusion regarding the management of the academic year’s end.

The parliamentarian pointed out that scheduling training sessions after signing exit reports has caused significant confusion among educators, stressing that the boycott of these sessions by teachers results in them being deprived of their right to sign exit reports, which threatens to spark new tensions in the education sector if the situation is not addressed.
