OCP Moves Closer to Acquiring PwC Business Services Amid Competition Council Review

The Moroccan Competition Council has announced the receipt of an official notice from the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP SA) regarding a proposed economic concentration operation. This initiative aims for OCP to gain exclusive control over “PwC Business Services” through the purchase of its entire capital and associated voting rights.

In a statement issued on Friday, July 11, 2025, the council clarified that this operation falls under provisions of Moroccan law pertaining to price freedom and competition. It emphasized that the publication of the notice does not imply that the file is complete or approved, noting that the responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided lies entirely with the involved parties.

According to official data, this move is part of a strategic restructuring being implemented by OCP to integrate internal services, particularly those related to administrative and financial support, which have been exclusively provided to the group by PwC Business Services.

PwC Business Services is a Moroccan company that is part of the global network of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), operating in the field of regulatory consulting, particularly in legal accounting, financial auditing, and contractual services.

The OCP Group is a major Moroccan institution specializing in the extraction and processing of phosphates. It produces and exports phosphate rock, phosphoric acid, and phosphate fertilizers to dozens of markets across continents.

The Competition Council has opened a window for third-party observations regarding this transaction, allowing comments until July 21, 2025, as part of the legal procedure leading to the final approval of such economic operations.
