Moroccan Port Expands Activities at Nador West Med Port by Establishing a New Company
The Competition Council has announced that it received a notification regarding an economic concentration operation concerning the establishment of a joint venture between Marsa Maroc and Boluda Towage France, aimed at providing towing and port assistance services at the Nador West Med port.
This project seeks to offer specialized navigation services within the port, as part of enhancing the logistical infrastructure and increasing the competitiveness of this new maritime facility of regional and international importance.
The joint venture will focus exclusively on ship towing and assistance operations within the port, in a move intended to leverage the expertise of the international partner Boluda Towage France, a subsidiary of the Spanish group Boluda Corporación Marítima, which is one of the leading global players in the fields of coastal and port towing as well as maritime rescue. The group operates over 600 vessels in 148 ports across 50 countries, giving it a prestigious position globally in this vital sector.
The Competition Council clarified that the market concerned by this operation is the market for ship towing and port assistance services, inviting all interested parties to submit their comments or objections regarding this operation by July 14, 2025, starting from July 4, 2025. This step is part of the strategic transformations taking place in the port sector in Morocco, in preparation for attracting new investments and strengthening the geo-logistical position of the Kingdom.
