Mohammed VI Football Complex: A Strategic Moroccan Investment Costing 60 Million Euros
A report by the French newspaper “L’Équipe” revealed that the construction cost of the Mohammed VI Football Complex, inaugurated in 2019 in the presence of King Mohammed VI, reached approximately 60 million euros, equivalent to over 600 million dirhams, making it one of the leading sports investments in Africa and the Arab world.
This integrated sports center is located in Salé, covering an area of approximately 29.3 hectares and provides modern infrastructure that meets the international standards set by FIFA.
The complex features comprehensive sports facilities, including natural and artificial turf pitches, an advanced medical center, an Olympic swimming pool, and accommodation facilities equipped to host all national teams, including futsal and beach soccer teams. This facility represents a significant step toward establishing a high level of professionalism in player preparation and training.
Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, confirmed that this project has brought together 25 national teams in one location, which has significantly reduced transportation and accommodation costs, while providing uniform training conditions that enhance the performance of the national teams.
The complex is part of a long-term strategy to develop Moroccan football and enhance its position regionally and globally, especially with the upcoming hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco and the kingdom’s participation in organizing the 2030 World Cup. This sports facility embodies Morocco’s ambition to build a comprehensive football system that places infrastructure and professionalism at the core of its sports project.
