Decrease in Coastal and Traditional Fishing Landings at Nador Port by 9% in the First Half of 2025

Coastal and traditional fishing landings at the Port of Nador decreased by 9 percent in the first half of 2025, amounting to 1,699 tons compared to 1,869 tons during the same period in 2024, according to the latest report from the National Fisheries Office.

The same source indicated that the market value of these products also fell by 4 percent, stabilizing at 76.57 million dirhams, down from 80.02 million dirhams recorded in the first half of last year.

The report highlighted a significant decline in landings of pelagic fish by 21 percent, with 253 tons valued at 2.18 million dirhams, compared to 321 tons and 3.73 million dirhams during the same period last year.

White fish also saw a decrease of 8 percent in quantity (440 tons) and 10 percent in value, which reached 12.55 million dirhams, compared to 480 tons and 13.98 million dirhams in 2024.

In contrast, landings of cephalopods increased by 6 percent to 703 tons, although their market value declined by 2 percent to 41.65 million dirhams. Shellfish experienced a 13 percent drop in quantity (302 tons), while their value rose by 2 percent to 20.18 million dirhams.

On a national level, landings of coastal and traditional fishing products totaled 391,353 tons by the end of June 2025, marking a 17 percent decrease, while their value remained relatively stable at around 4.81 billion dirhams.
