Call to Resume Activity at Samir Refinery and Disburse Employees’ and Retirees’ Dues

The trade union council of the Democratic Confederation of Labor at Samir Company has called for the immediate resumption of normal operations at the Mohammedia refinery. It emphasized the need for employees and retirees to be granted all of their legitimate rights regarding wages and pensions, warning of the repercussions of deteriorating social conditions, particularly among young technicians.

In a statement, the council stressed the importance of respecting the collective agreement as a legal commitment and demanded the assurance of all legal rights for employees during the judicial liquidation period.

The council also called for the active role of the business committee to reorganize work and fill job vacancies, in order to protect the company’s assets from neglect and destruction. It expressed its rejection of what it described as the ongoing destruction of the company’s physical assets and the undermining of human capital and national expertise in petroleum refining, asserting that providing financial resources for salaries and pensions is the responsibility of the syndic, the appointed judge, and the relevant authorities managing the file.

Furthermore, the council insisted on the need to rationalize expenditures and safeguard Samir’s interests within its branches, protecting these companies from exploitation and problems. It denounced what it viewed as an obstruction of efforts to restore the rights of the company’s retirees, considering this behavior inconsistent with the objectives of the Moroccan Retirement Fund and contrary to national trends in social coverage expansion.

In conclusion, the council called on all employees and retirees to further unite and show solidarity within the framework of the Democratic Confederation of Labor, expressing readiness to engage in various upcoming struggle initiatives to reclaim lost rights in wages, pensions, and supplementary health coverage, and to improve the conditions of young technicians at lower grades.
