Security forces in Tangier have successfully apprehended a citizen holding both French and Moroccan citizenship, who is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities.
The detained individual was a fugitive from French justice, suspected of involvement in cases related to extortion, kidnapping, accompanied by violence, and ransom demands from victims involved in cryptocurrency trading, as well as participating in money laundering operations stemming from these criminal activities.
In this context, French Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin thanked the Moroccan authorities for detaining the aforementioned individual, who has executed numerous criminal operations on French territory.
The French minister confirmed that this recent arrest reflects the excellent judicial cooperation between the two countries, especially concerning the fight against organized crime.
