Rolani Mokwena, the former coach of Wydad Athletic Club, revealed the details of his experience with the team, stating in a media appearance that the first thing he noticed was the absence of the fighting spirit that characterized their rivals Raja during their double championship season.
In statements quoted by “Africa Foot,” Mokwena said, “When I arrived, during my first meeting with the players, I asked them how Raja achieved their double title, and I was told that they faced the same problems.” He added, “They were ready to defend the club and the badge, which is something I sometimes missed among Wydad players.”
The South African coach concluded his remarks by emphasizing his commitment: “I had to prove that, even when the players were dissatisfied with their salaries, I was not focused on money, but on representing the club.”
Mokwena’s statements reflect the extent of the challenges he faced within the group and highlight, from his perspective, the difference in mentality that led Raja to victory compared to that of Wydad players during his tenure.
