His Majesty King Mohammed VI sacrifices the Eid offering on behalf of the people, affirming trust and legal adherence.

On Saturday, June 7, the Commander of the Faithful, King Mohammed VI, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer at Hassan II Mosque in Tetouan, amidst a large public attendance reflecting the close bond between the people and the symbol of the state’s religious and spiritual authority.

This year, His Majesty chose to implement an exceptional decision preventing citizens from slaughtering their offerings at home, in order to serve the welfare of the community and alleviate any potential embarrassment, basing this on a clear legal principle from the Holy Quran: “And We have not made for you in religion any discomfort.”

After the prayer, His Majesty slaughtered the Eid offering on behalf of himself and the Moroccan people, directly mirroring the practice of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who sacrificed two rams, one for himself and the other for his community. This act embodied the spiritual and leadership role of His Majesty as Commander of the Faithful, who bears the responsibility of upholding religious rites according to the necessities and legal interests.

The royal procession passed through the streets of Tetouan, surrounded by large crowds of citizens who came to congratulate the king on the holiday and express their loyalty and support while chanting affirmations of life for the king, underscoring the strong ties between the people and their sovereign.

The Eid sermon emphasized that Eid al-Adha is not a fleeting occasion, but carries profound religious and social meanings that reflect Moroccans’ commitment to strengthening their religious and social bonds and renewing their adherence to Islamic values.

This royal decision aimed to facilitate matters for citizens and alleviate any potential burdens in performing the ritual, amidst circumstances that may call for caution, while preserving the spirit of the holiday that combines worship, joy, and solidarity.

This event reflects the wisdom of leadership in balancing religious traditions with contemporary realities, highlighting His Majesty’s central role as a spiritual leader who responds to the needs of his nation, affirming his trust in shouldering responsibilities on behalf of his people.
