Central African Countries Confirm Support for Moroccan Territorial Integrity

During a meeting with their Moroccan counterparts in Rabat on Tuesday, lawmakers from Central African countries reaffirmed their steadfast support for the territorial integrity of Morocco. This gathering is part of the preparations for the upcoming Morocco-CEMAC parliamentary and economic conference scheduled to take place this Friday in Laayoune.

The meeting was held between Mohamed Laghdaf, President of the House of Councillors, and Everistus Nganimana, President of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) Parliament, which includes six nations: Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea.

In a statement to the press, Laghdaf emphasized that "this meeting reflects the strength of relations between Morocco and Central African countries, and embodies the royal directives concerning the enhancement of South-South cooperation." He added that "the upcoming conference in Laayoune will serve as an important platform for strengthening economic partnerships between the two sides."

For his part, Nganimana praised Morocco’s leading role in Africa, considering that "the developmental projects led by the Kingdom on the continent, including the Atlantic port of Dakhla and the gas pipeline project with Nigeria, serve as a model for African cooperation."

It is noteworthy that this meeting comes within the framework of implementing a memorandum of understanding signed by both parties last January, aimed at fostering parliamentary cooperation and exchanging expertise.

Several Moroccan parliamentary officials attended the meeting, highlighting Morocco’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with African countries.
