The deputy public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Fez has been placed under formal investigation while in custody on suspicion of involvement in a case related to espionage with an individual residing outside the country, according to sources close to “Parliament.com.”
The same sources indicated that the accused is suspected of communicating with a person believed to be managing an online platform that targets senior officials, judges, security personnel, journalists, and lawyers through orchestrated defamation campaigns. Surveillance has revealed the exchange of messages and information likely of a provocative nature.
These findings prompted the relevant authorities to intervene, initiating a thorough investigation under the prosecution’s supervision to ascertain the context of these actions and the nature of the relationship between the parties involved.
This move comes as part of the judicial authorities’ efforts to bolster oversight mechanisms and ensure that positions of responsibility are not exploited for personal grievances or political or virtual conflicts.
