Wydad and FAR in the Throne Cup Final
Wydad Athletic Club and the Royal Army have reached the final of the Women’s Throne Cup after winning their respective semifinal matches, setting the stage for a decisive clash for the title.
Wydad triumphed over the Municipality of Laayoune, winning 2-1 in a match that was decided in the second extra half, while the Royal Army secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Ittihad Tanger.
Wydad opened the scoring with a penalty from Salma Boukrshe in the 29th minute, but the Municipality of Laayoune managed to equalize. However, the red team reclaimed the lead and clinched the victory through player Hajar Jbilou, who netted the decisive goal in the second extra half.
Meanwhile, the Royal Army delivered a strong performance against Ittihad Tanger, with Safaa Banouk scoring the opening goal in the 35th minute. Aziza Rbah added the second goal via a penalty in the 56th minute, and Banouk completed the trio in the 65th minute, securing the military team’s progression to the final.
The final is expected to be a fierce contest between the two sides, given the heightened ambitions for clinching the most prestigious titles in national women’s football.
