Royal Gendarmerie Foils Distribution of Over a Ton of Unfit Turkey Meat in Sidi Taybi

In a well-coordinated field operation, a patrol from the Environmental Center in Kenitra seized more than a ton of turkey meat, amounting to 1,088 kilograms, from an unauthorized outlet in the Sidi Taybi area on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The meat was slaughtered and stored under conditions that lacked the minimum health safety standards.

The operation was undertaken in direct coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, which provided precise information regarding illegal activity being run by an individual in a facility that did not meet any established criteria. The suspect was allegedly separating turkey meat from bones and packaging it in plastic bags for distribution to restaurants and fast food outlets in Kenitra and its surroundings.

Following instructions from the public prosecutor, Gendarmerie personnel conducted a search of the suspect’s residence, leading to the discovery of additional quantities of frozen white meat, which were confirmed to have expired and posed a direct threat to consumer health.

The field investigation was supervised by a mixed regional committee that arrived on-site, led by a representative of local authorities in Sidi Taybi, where violations were documented and necessary legal measures were taken. The suspect has been placed under police custody pending further investigation to unveil all parties involved, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.

This operation reflects the vigilance of the Royal Gendarmerie and its crucial role in combating food safety violations by monitoring suspicious activities and activating rapid intervention mechanisms, thereby promoting a culture of prevention and protecting public health.
