Moroccan National Team Competes in the COSAFA Cup

The draw for the 2025 COSAFA Cup, held in Mangauang, South Africa, on Wednesday, placed the Moroccan national team in Group C alongside Madagascar and Eswatini.

The “Atlas Lions” are participating in this tournament, which will take place from June 4 to 15, as an invited team from outside the COSAFA Confederation (Southern African national teams).

Group A consists of South Africa, Mozambique, Mauritius, and Zimbabwe, while Group B features Angola, Namibia, Malawi, and Lesotho. Group D includes Zambia, Comoros, and Botswana.

Groups C and D each contain only three teams, while Groups A and B consist of four teams. The top team from each group will advance to the semifinals, with the winner of Group C facing the winner of Group B, and the winner of Group A meeting the top team from Group D.

The tournament will be hosted in Mangauang, where matches will be played at the Free State Stadium and Peter Mokaba Stadium, both of which were prominent venues during the 2010 World Cup.

Morocco is expected to field its local team for this event in preparation for the African Championship for Local Players, as the senior team is scheduled for two friendly matches against Benin and Tunisia, coinciding with the tournament.
