Rabat Hosts the Fourth Edition of the Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative for Journalist Training
The capital city of Rabat has kicked off the fourth edition of the “Al Jazeera Ambassadors” initiative, organized by the temporary committee for the management of the journalism and publishing sector, in partnership with the Higher Institute of Information and Communication and the Al Jazeera Media Institute in Qatar. This event takes place from May 19 to 23, 2025, as part of a fruitful institutional collaboration aimed at enhancing media training by combining academic perspectives with professional practice, to build a new generation of journalists capable of keeping pace with the transformations in the sector.
This edition targets over 280 participants, consisting of professional journalists and journalism students, distributed across 12 training workshops led by certified trainers from the Al Jazeera Media Institute. The workshops for professionals cover a variety of topics, including television presentation led by Muhammad Kriashan, television reporting under the guidance of Muhammad al-Baqali, documentary filmmaking supervised by Sami Darbashi, investigative journalism with Muhammad Ahdid, digital journalism ethics led by Muhammad Khmaisah, and sports journalism tutored by Muhammad Amour.
The initiative also allocated a complementary training program for students enrolled in various programs at the Higher Institute of Information and Communication to strengthen their skills in modern journalistic genres, providing them with training in producing podcasts, data journalism, news bulletin production, digital storytelling, and fact-checking, along with sports journalism.
The “Al Jazeera Ambassadors” initiative continues its training journey after benefiting a total of 328 journalists since its launch in 2022. Sixty-four participated in the first edition, 111 in the second edition in 2023, while 75 journalists benefited from the 2024 edition held in Rabat, and 78 others in Tangier. These courses have been distinguished by a variety of training topics that included television presentation, field reporting, documentary filmmaking, investigative journalism, digital storytelling, photojournalism, data journalism, fact-checking, and media ethics in the digital age.
The goal of this initiative is to reinforce a culture of continuous training and enhance the quality of journalistic performance in Morocco, within the framework of participatory approaches between national and international specialized institutions.
